The replica sailing ships
JEANIE JOHNSTON (2000) and MATTHEW (1997) depart from Bangor (N.I.)
after the Sea Bangor Festival held over the weekend of June 24/25,
2006. It is interesting to compare the designs of these two
"trans-Atlantic" ships.
The caravel MATTHEW employed on John Cabot's
1497 journey of discovery to the "New World" and the passenger and
the passenger barque JEANIE JOHNSTON are separated by 350 years or
so by age of design. |
