Two of the Port of Liverpool's lesser known pilot vessels TURNSTONE and FULMAR are based at Amlwch Marine Terminal. The terminal was constructed to serve a single buoy mooring for very large crude oil carriers delivering oil to the ShellRefinery Stanlow via pipeline. The terminal building can be seen in the back ground of the central picture. [See Amlwch History CLICK HERE]. The terminal has two "pens" which were built to be used by tugs serving the terminal buoy. FULMAR is seen returning to base after being out to the SIGAS EARL which was bound for the Manchester Ship Canal.
