On July 29, a group of members from the Merseyside Branch of the World Ship Society visited SAGA ROSE (ex SAGAFJORD, ex GRIPSHOLM) of Saga Shipping at the Langton Cruise Terminal, Liverpool to disembark and embark passengers. She was completed in 1965 by Soc. des Forges de la Méditerranée (La Seyne sur Mer) for Norwegian America Line. The builders lost so much money on the construction contract that they went into liquidation the following year. In 1983 following the take over of NAL by Trafalgar House both  SAGAFJORD and her sister VISTAFJORD were incorporated into the Cunard Fleet. A short charter to Transocean Tours for the 1996 season followed. She was then sold to Saga Shipping as SAGA ROSE.

Her sister VISTAFJORD remained with Cunard through its absorption by Carnival Corporation gaining the name CARONIA before being sold on to Saga Shipping.
