Amazing Grace - ex Pharos - and Friends

Photographs © John Thomas 2007

John Thomas took a trip on SEA PRINCESS last month and caught up with a ship which was once a familiar sight on the Irish Sea - The Northern Lighthouse Board tender PHAROS - now AMAZING GRACE seen left.

AMAZING GRACE (ex PHAROS) now appears to be laid up but she was active during 2005 when she was sailing for Windjammer Barefoot Cruises.   John writes:" It may be of interest to Irish Sea watchers to see what happened to this very good looking ship -every bit a Royal yacht in her original appearance. I was only ashore briefly and did not get chance to get near to the ship but she appeared to be laid up as did the ship  DISCOVERER lying next to her. I am also attaching a copy of the photo of that ship  it is somewhat unique in appearance looking like a cross between a giant tug and perhaps a yacht. I am sure you will have noticed THE CAT behind the AMAZING GRACE.
