LAGAN VIKING departing from Twelve Quays on her Maiden service voyage to Belfast on Wednesday July 20, 2005. Photographed from the Wirral side of the river by Ian Collard (left and above) and Philip Parker on the Liverpool side (right and below.)
LAGAN VIKING is a most unusual ship. I doubt she would win any prizes for being an elegant ship. However, she certainly appears very functional designed to carry large numbers of vehicles and passengers. Notice how the car deck is aft, just below the funnel, reached by a ramp system - perhaps shades of the LADY OF MANN? It certainly keeps private vehicles away from the heavy freight.
