Torpoint Ferries Nostalgic Views

Photographs © John H. Luxton 1979

Some nostalgic views of the Torpoint Ferry service taken in summer 1979 shortly after the introdution of the "Ferrybus" service, then operated by the Western National Omnibus Company. Apologies for the slightly less than perfect condition of these pictures as the negatives have become scratched.
One of the Thornycroft built twins "LYNHER" as yet unnamed and in original configuration during summer 1979 at Torpoint Terminal. Back in 79 it wasn't unusual to see off duty sailors in the area dressed in uniform. Here are some on the prom deck of LYNHERA Bristol coach arrives in the vehicle marshalling area at Torpoint during a quiet spell mid afternoon."PLYM" the Charles Hill built ferry - again unrebuilt and unnamed. The original ferry marshalling area control tower can be seen.
