A close look at the Dartmouth Higher Ferry operating at Dartmouth, Devon - This is the last diesel electric paddle vessel operating in the UK. Built by Philip of Dartmouth in 1960 she is due to be replaced by a new vessel which will propel itself across the river winching itself along the guide wires assisted by thrusters to aid manoeuvrability at the terminal slipways.
