A Lively Sail for Panary Up the Mersey

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2009

The classic 1930s built dry cargo barge PANARY (160 gt) heads up the River Mersey, having departed Gladstone Lock,  bound for Eastham Lock on March 14, 2008 in high winds on a flood tide.  PANARY often sails up the Weaver Navigation to Frodsham Wharf.

The PANARY is listed on the National Historic Ships register being built by Charles Hill & Sons of Bristol in 1937.
