Pacific Teal - The Last Voyage

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2008

On Saturday February 09, 2008 MULTRATUG 7 was noted towing PACIFIC TEAL dead ship away from Barrow to the Netherlands for recycling whilst I was travelling on the BEN-MY-CHREE. The 1982 built nuclear fuel carrier is the oldest member of the James Fisher managed PNTL fleet. She has been replaced by the PACIFIC HERON which was launched in Japan in 2007. MULTRATUG 7 had the distinction of towing away the ill fated COSTA CLASSICA mid section from Cammell Laird. Apologies for the quality of the above shots - but though the weather was very pleasant visibility wasn't too good and the camera was having to work at the far end of it's zoom range. Never the less the images provide and interesting record of the final departure of one of the Irish Sea's more interesting and in some quarters controversial ships.
