On May 26, 2006 Costa Crociere's COSTA CLASSICA finally entered the Irish Sea after departing Cóbh. She is seen here arriving at Dublin on May 27. The COSTA CLASSICA broke her previous call on the Irish Sea, back in November 2000 when she dramatically turned around off Spain whilst bound for Cammell Laird for lengthening. The failure of the ship to be delivered for conversion led to the collapse of Cammell Laird Holdings plc the following spring. On September 15, 2002 the unfitted hull section was towed away for breaking - photo bottom right. |
