Helliar Departs Cammell Laird

Photographs © Adrian Sweeney 2010

HELLIAR is seen departing from Cammell Laird on Friday December 10, 2010. The former CLIPPER RACER of Seatruck Ferries has been chartered to Northlink. She is named after Helliar Holm a small island near Shapinsay, Orkney. "Helliar" in old Norse means a cave into which the tide runs. The ship is to be officially named at a ceremony to be held at the Hatston Pier Terminal at Kirkwall on Monday January 17, 2011. HELLIAR joins HILDASAY which is also time chartered with crew from Seatruck Ferries.
