RFA FORT VICTORIA arrived on the Mersey for refit by Northwestern Ship Repairers on Sunday November 02, 2008. She had been brought up dead ship from the Solent by tugs RED DOLPHIN and ENGLISHMAN in a tow which lasted almost a week. She locked in to Langton Lock and then proceeded to a berth at Canada #1. Her sister, FORT GEORGE arrived at the end of 2007 for refit which continues at Cammell Laird #5, dry dock. Presumably when her sister leaves the dry dock she FORT VICTORIA will take her place.
Smit tugs SMIT DONAU and SMIT BARBADOS assisted her on arrival. Photographs of her arrival were captured from the Wirral by Ian Collard and from the Liverpool side by John H. Luxton.
