Some views of the new Dublin Port pilot vessel CAMAC which was delivered earlier in 2007. She was built by Safehaven Marine at Cóbh in County Cork. The vessel is based on the Safehaven Marine's successful Interceptor 42 pilot boat design. The CAMAC incorporates a number of small design changes to accommodate the specific requirements of the port. The vessel has a central helm position, facilitating boarding on the side most suited to the prevailing conditions. Her operational speed is 23knots on heavyweight 18,000kg displacement. The vessel specification includes specialised coxswain identification system and impact / damage data logging system with GPS monitoring of speed, position, course and time, continuously recording data when predetermined impact thresholds are exceeded. The engines are fitted with a number of unique features such as remote monitoring of the engines operating parameters from a shore based station, 3 minute cool down on the engines when switched off preventing turbo damage, and engine stand heaters, all of which is designed to prolong engine life.
