John M Changes Appearances

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2005

Humber Work Boats dredger JOHN M appears to have undergone a noticeable change of appearance in recent days. The vessel has been working in conjunction with Holyhead Towing's split hopper AFON CADNANT on clearing silt from behind the Liverpool Landing Stages. As can be seen since the photographs on the right were taken on May 01, 2005 and those on the left May 14, 2005 she appears to have lost most of her wheelhouse and also the small crane.

The company's web site reveals that the complete cabin is mounted on four rubber blocks in order to minimize noise and vibration in the cabin. Heating to the cabin is by cooling water from the engine. For negotiating low bridges, and for road transport, the top of the cabin can be dismounted to reduce air draft."
