Preparing Stanley Dock as the Captain America Film Set

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2010

On September 18, 2010 work can be seen to be underway preparing the Stanley Dock area as a film set for the filming of the Captain America movie. Safety boats were present and notices warned canal traffic passing through the area that divers were down in the dock area.

The filming will see the area around the dock as well as the adjacent dock road closed for a period of 17 days commencing September 20, 2010. One the right an additional fake "turret" similar to those which feature in the Stanley Dock wall has been built for filming purposes. It is quite convincing until one realised it is perched on the pavement and appears to be on a wooden frame.
