Skyline Barge 15 Returns to the Pier Head

Photographs © John H. Luxton 2011

The Ravestein SKYLINE BARGE 15 served as the temporary Mersey Ferries Landing Stage for several years following the sinking of the previous structure has returned again to the Pier Head. The barge was removed in November 2010 but returned as a work platform in late July 2011 for contractors Balfour Beatty and Commercial and Marine Piling Ltd as part of the installation of the new landing stage for Mersey Ferries which is currently fitting out in Canada Dock. The long reach excavator appears to be carrying out further dredging of the river bed with scrap and debris being placed in the skips which are then craned ashore by the larger crane.

These scenes were taken on July 28, 2011. Just visible in the first picture is Carmet Tug Company's tug AUDREY which is working in support of SKYLINE BARGE 15.
