| Scrabster Harbour seen on the rather showery afternoon of August 15, 2009. Unfortunately not having brought ashore appropriate water proofs your web master didn't do as much exploring as planned, however, these photos provide a flavour of Scotland's most northerly ro/ro port. Interesting to note that nine years after the demise of P&O Scottish Ferries evidence of the previous operators of the Orkney Link can be seen. Baggage trailers are not an usual sight on Irish Sea routes but I there are non dedicated to carrying racing pigeons. One can be seen below right. During the afternoon the fishing vessel RUSSA TAIGN was seen discharging outside the new Northlink Terminal. The former P&O Terminal remains in use as a waiting and refreshment room for vehicle drivers in the adjacent vehicle marshalling area. The Thurso all weather Severn Class all weather lifeboat RNLB THE TAYLORS is based in the harbour. The older linkspan is used to serve cruise ship tenders. |
