| A Visit to Gloucester Docks Photographs © John H. Luxton 2011 |
| A selection of views of the Historic Gloucester Docks photographed on April 23 / 24, 2011. The warehouses and quays provided a back-drop to the later series of the BBC TV drama series "The Onedin Line" which supposedly based in Liverpool. However when this series was filmed between 1970 and 1980 restoration of Liverpool's historic docks remained several years away with the first stage of the Albert Dock not opening until 1984. For detailed historic and current information on Gloucester Docks and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal you are recommended to visit Hugh Conway-Jones excellent web site at www.gloucesterdocks.me.uk . |
