BW BAUHINIA became one of a number of ULCC (Ultra Large Crude Carriers) due to arrive on the Mersey this year. She arrived at Tranmere Oil Terminal around 15:00 on Friday January 16, 2009. She becomes the largest ship in terms of her 158,569 gross tonnage she takes the record as being the largest ship to enter the Mersey since the NISA (153,517 gross tonnes) in May 1988. The ship is 332m long with a beam of 58 metres. Operated by BW Fleet Management Pte Ltd of Singapore she is Hong Kong flagged with a British master and chief engineer. |
