The Spring Bank Holiday weekend of May 30 - June 01,despite the celebrations in Galway with the Volvo Ocean Race vessels in port, Dublin Port has hosted the Docklands Maritime Festival. The superb weather and the lure of the ships drew me into the port this morning. . The use of an inflatable craft to act as a bow thrust unit for the STS Lord Nelson in berthing on the South Quays, and the picture of the quirky logo on the funnel of the L.E. AOIFE might be a source of amusement. I can't help but think that the sight of the L.E. AOIFE's funnel logo would not be quite so amusing to those fishing illegally or trying to bring in drugs - funny as it is!!!! |
