The most impressive vessel to visit Merseyside for the 2004 Mersey River Festival MIR [1987] is the world's fastest sailing ship. The ship was open for public inspection on June 19. At 311 feet in length MIR is a most impressive vessel with wide, open decks. She is one of a class of six ships built at Gdansk Shipyard, Poland of the "Dar Mlodziezy" class which take their name from the Polish sailing ship and class leader DAR MLODZIEZY constructed in 1982.
