Coiste An Asgard's [www.irishsailtraining.com] graceful brigantine This lovely graceful brigantine, designed specially for sail training by the late Jack Tyrrell of Arklow, Co. Wicklow was commissioned in March, 1981. She is a regular sight on the Irish Sea as well as further a field as she undertakes her annual programme of cruises. Over the years she has visited Merseyside from time to time and is seen here at the Mersey River Festival, early in the morning before the crowds arrived. [Sadly the vessel was lot in the Bay of Biscay in 2008 though fortunately the crew were rescued safely.]
